Post-docs: how to find them, fund them, and be successful
For the March WiSci meeting we will host a panel discussion on post-doctoral success: specifically on how to find a post-doc, fund a post-doc, and subsequently be successful as a post-doc. There will be a panel of current post-docs to tell their stories of success and answer questions. All genders and career stages are welcome to attend.

This meeting, an intern from Student Health and Counseling Services will present on i general mental health issues that are common in academia (anxiety, stress management, etc), how and when to seek help for mental health issues, and what services are available on campus.

Conflict resolution
In this session, we will discuss ways to deal with tricky situations in the workplace. We all face moments of conflict at one point or another. Using case studies and general group discussions, we will cover different ways of handling difficult situations and negotiation strategies for resolving disputes.

Non-Traditional Academic Career Panel
At this event, panel members will discuss options for careers at research-intensive institutions outside of the standard model of tenure-track research-focused faculty. Career paths to be discussed include permanent research positions, teaching-focused faculty, academic coordinators for large-enrollment undergraduate courses, and directors of major analytical facilities. Panel members are Susie Gagliardi, Laci Gerhart-Barley, Erin Easlon, and Joy Matthews.

Impostor Syndrome
In this session, we’ll discuss imposter syndrome, which is often defined as feelings of inferiority or fraudulence typically felt by high achievers. While first identified in women, these feelings are pervasive in STEM and can affect many groups. We will present data about how feelings related to imposter syndrome compare across genders, ethnicities, and career stages, have activities and discussion about feelings of imposter syndrome, and discuss some strategies for addressing it. Please join WiLD for a panel discussion on "Fortitude in the Face of Failure" on Monday, November 4 at noon in Storer 2342. We'll hear from Drs. Annie Schmitt, Kate Laskowski, and Santiago Ramirez about how they've persevered through times that don't feel so great, plus strategies for resilience and ways to improve our academic environment.'
